Snipwick privacy policy
Effective September 14, 2026
Snipwick is a browser extension that answers, summarizes or translates the part of a web page you select. This page explains exactly what it sends, what we keep, and who else handles it.
What the extension sends, and when
Nothing is sent until you snip something. When you do, the extension sends our server:
- the text you selected, or an image of the area you dragged a box around;
- the address (URL) and title of the page it came from;
- your chosen answer language;
- for a follow-up question, the question and the earlier questions and answers about that same snip.
It never sends the rest of the page, and it does not read pages in the background or track your browsing.
What we keep
- Your account: your email address and your Google account identifier, from signing in with Google, plus your plan.
- Your answer balance: a record of answers granted, used and refunded.
- A record of each answer request: its type, when it happened, how long it took, whether it succeeded, and technical usage figures. This record does not contain what you snipped or the answer.
- Sign-in sessions: a one-way fingerprint of your sign-in token (never the token itself) and your browser's user-agent string, so you can stay signed in and so sessions can be ended.
We do not store the content of your snips or the answers on our servers. They exist only for the moment it takes to answer.
Who else handles your data
- Anthropic generates the answers. It receives the snip content described above. Under Anthropic's standard commercial terms, prompts and responses are retained for 30 days and then deleted, and are not used to train models.
- Brave Search may receive a short search phrase, written by the model, to find pictures for an expanded answer. It does not receive your snip or your account details.
- Google handles sign-in. We receive only your email address and account identifier.
- Fly.io hosts our server, and Neon hosts our database, both in the United States.
- Stripe will process payments when paid plans are available. Card details go to Stripe directly; we never see or store them.
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use analytics or tracking tools in the extension.
What stays in your browser
The extension keeps your settings, your sign-in tokens and the answer currently on screen in your browser's own extension storage. Signing out removes the tokens; removing the extension removes all of it.
Your choices
- You can sign out at any time from the extension's settings.
- You can ask us to delete your account by contacting us. We delete your account details; records of payments and answer balances that we must keep for accounting are retained, no longer linked to an active account.
- You can ask what data we hold about you.
Children
Snipwick is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If what the extension sends or what we keep changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change.
